The "Hot Light" will glow again

Popular senior gathering place, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts at 2749 Skidaway Road, will re-open after extensive remodeling Sept. 17 at 5:30 a.m.

To mark the renovation of the 34-year-old store, 34 percent of the opening day sale swill be donated to the United Way of the Coastal Empire?s Annual Campaign.

The first 50 customers will receive free t-shirts, Mayor Floyd Adams will cut the ribbon at 9 a.m. and there will be a viewing of the restored 1937 Krispy Kreme Chevy delivery van. Other special events through the week include:

Sept. 18: Customers age 65 and over can drop by for special senior giveaways.

Sept. 19: Own a piece of Krispy Kreme as items removed from the old location, including the famous round table and vintage ?Hot Lights,? are auctioned off! Proceeds benefit Historic Savannah Foundation.

Sept. 20: Register to win a Krispy Kreme wedding cake.

Sept. 21: Kid?s Day includes entertainment, contests and more.

Sept. 22: Bring in your church bulletin and get a free medium coffee with any purchase.

The renovation also coincides with the roll out of a new line of coffees and coffee drinks.
