Several more sessions remain in Hospice volunteer training series

Southeast Georgia's oldest hospice needs volunteers throughout the eight-county region served by this not-for-profit United Way agency.

Volunteers help with direct services for patients and families, as well as indirect services that support Hospice Savannah's mission of caring for anyone with any incurable illness. Volunteer training completion results in national certification, and there is no obligation to volunteer.

There also are volunteer roles that do not require these certification sessions, such as gardening at Hospice House, refreshments and musical talents for one of the monthly Memorial Gatherings, or writing acknowledgements to thank donors.

Ten volunteer training sessions have been offered to date in 2000, and four sessions remain. Lunch is provided. To receive certification or to volunteer for direct services with Hospice Savannah patients and families, participants need to complete Sessions I & II during any of the following dates:

October (There are two scheduled training sessions during October.)
Session I: Saturday, Oct. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. and ending at 3 p.m.
