Defense Finance and Accounting Service donates 32 computers to Senior Citizens Inc.

For Coastal Senior

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service in Orlando, Fla., has donated 32 computers to Senior Citizens Inc. Club 55. This donation has enabled the expansion of Club 55's popular computer class from a five-person class once a week to four times a week with a 20-person capacity.

The classes offer introductory lessons in basic knowledge of the computer, such as turning it on and off, Microsoft Office, Excel and Word Perfect. Students also learn basic Internet skills, such as using e-mail to keep in touch with family and utilizing search engines to aid in research.

"These computers will allow us to accommodate the large number of interested people who are currently on our waiting list to get into a class," says Sheila Vibert, vice president of programs.

Computer classes as well as other classes and activities offered at Club 55 are available to all Senior Citizens Inc. members for an annual fee of $15.

The calendar of events can be seen in the Coastal Senior, as well as online at www.srcitizen.org.

DFAS is the world's largest finance and accounting operation whose mission is to reduce the cost and improve the overall quality of Department of Defense financial management through consolidation, standardization and integration of finance and accounting operations, procedures and systems.
