Savannah barbershoppers plan salute to the Irish

For Coastal Senior

Savannah's barbershop chapter will present a musical comedy, "It's A Great Day For The Irish," at 8 p.m. Nov. 11 in the Fine Arts Auditorium of Armstrong Atlantic State University.

If you go

Tickets: $12 by calling (912) 351-7388 or from any barber-shopper, or at the door. Children 12 and under, accompanied by a parent, admitted free.

The two-act musical tells the story of a young man's return to Ireland to visit his widowed mother on St. Patrick's Day - and the surprises that greet him there.

The chapter's 13th Colony Sound Chorus and Savannah's lady barbershoppers, The Moon River Chorus, will be featured, along with their respective quartets. They'll be singing many of the best-loved Irish melodies.

The production is under the direction of Shelly Kaiser and the cast includes Matt Tittle, Julie Librett, Landon Smith and Les Taylor. Also featured will be guest quartet Split Decision, international finalists in this year's quartet contest in Kansas City.

The performance will benefit the Savannah Speech and Hearing Center, Battered Women and barbershop's national cause, Heartspring in Wichita, Kan.

Tickets are $12 and may be purchased by calling 351-7388 or from any barbershopper, or at the door. Children 12 and under, accompanied by a parent, admitted free.
