SAVANNAH
The Clinical Social Work Association of Savannah and Savannah Jewish Family Services will present a parent training on "Teaching Children to Respect Differences" at the Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn St., March 11 at 7p.m. The presentation is free and open to the public and is endorsed by Parent University.
Included will be: how can we teach our children to be open-minded and caring toward other people? What are the qualities needed to be empathetic to others, and how can they be taught to children? This workshop will explore how parents develop values and how to teach children values that respect people who we perceive are "different" from ourselves.
Each topic will include specific activities that families can do together to help children learn respect for people who are different from them. Workshop presenter is Barbara R. McLaughlin M.Div., LCSW. McLaughlin is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, chaplain and therapist who has worked with cultural groups, and taught classes in spirituality, grief and loss and cultural diversity and sensitivity.
