A variety of performances are planned by the Hilton Head Orchestra

Monday, March 31 & Tuesday, April 1

Symphony Under the Stars, Hilton Head Orchestra's popular outdoor picnic and concert, will be held March 31 and April 1 with "Bring-Your-Own-Picnic Supper" at 6 p.m. followed by a 7:30 p.m. concert under the tent at Shelter Cove Commons. This year's theme is "Stars, Stripes and Sousa."

Tickets for the Symphony Under the Stars concerts are $50 and may be purchased by mailing a check to the Hilton Head Orchestra, P. O. Drawer 5757, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29938. Table of 10 Reservations are available for $500. Patron and Corporate Preferred Seating are also available. Monday, April 14

The Hilton Head Orchestra under the direction of Maestra Mary Woodmansee Green declares It's Spring! in concert April 14 at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The program will celebrate the season with selections that include Rimsky-Korsakov's triumphant Russian Easter Overture, Delius' delicate On Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring, Wagner's Good Friday Music from Parsifal" and Mahler's What the Wild Flowers Tell Me. Schumann's boisterous Symphony No. 1 in B flat "Spring" will round out the program.

Tickets for It's Spring! April 14, Master Series subscription concert are right-wing seating for $15. Call the HHO Box Office at 842-2055 for Visa/MC reservations, or purchase at the door after 7:00 p.m. concert night. $25 and $20 recycled tickets will be sold at the door if available. Monday, April 14

For those interested in learning more about the Hilton Head Orchestra, the Orchestra is offering a Monday with the Maestra lecture April 14 beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church. Music Director Mary Woodmansee Green will give an informal talk about the music she has planned for the It's Spring! concert and will be joined by Orchestra President Walt Graver who will discuss the dreams and realities of the orchestra business. Following the talk, everyone is invited to attend the orchestra's 3-5:30 p.m. Final Rehearsal. Tickets: $15 for non-subscribers of the orchestra; $5 for orchestra subscribers, payable at the door. Advance reservations for Monday with the Maestra are requested by calling the Orchestra office, 842-2055.


Monday, May 5

On May 5, the Hilton Head Orchestra will perform the grand finale of the 2002-2003 Season - Italian Sojourn at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. The concert will feature HHO Principal Violist Li-Zhou Liu playing Berlioz' Harold in Italy.

Tickets to Italian Sojourn, Monday, May 5 subscription concert, are right-wing seating for $15. Sunday, May 18

Big Band Bash, one of the Hilton Head Orchestra's most popular annual events, will be at the Marriott Beach and Golf Resort Ballroom on May 18. Doors open and the first opportunity to bid in the Silent Auction is at 7:00 pm. The Concert begins at 8 p.m. This year's concert, A Tribute to Benny Goodman, will feature the Terry Myers Orchestra with an appearance by the Hilton Head Orchestra's Special Pops Conductor, Bob Alberti.

Concert tickets are $50 for table seating of twelve with champagne and pastries; $30 for theater seating. Table of 12 Reservations are available for $600. Patron and Corporate Preferred Seating are also available. Tickets may be purchased by mailing a check to the Hilton Head Orchestra, P. O. Drawer 5757, Hilton Head Island, SC, 29938. Proceeds benefit the Hilton Head Orchestra.
