The Savannah Parkinson's Support Group will meet June 5 at5 p.m. in Candler Hospital's Marsh Auditorium.

The guest speaker will be Linda Stokes, librarian in charge of Live Oak Libraries' "Books on Tape Program" located at the Thunderbolt Branch.

She will explain the federal program that is provided free to qualified individuals (those who are disabled or blind). Stokes has a bachelor's degree in library science from the University of South Dakota and a master's degree in library science from the University of South Carolina.

She worked at the Library for the Blind in Nebraska for 10 years and has been Head Librarian of the Savannah Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped for 20 years. She serves as Treasurer of the Southern Conference of Librarians for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.

The July 9 meeting will also be held in Candler Hospital's March Auditorium beginning at 5 p.m.

The guest speaker will be Alison Walmsley, manager, Occupational Therapy Department, St. Joseph's/Candler Health System. Her topic is, "Improving Daily Living Skills for People With Parkinson's."

Walmsley graduated from Louisiana State University in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. She has worked in several teaching and community hospitals since that time and in 2000 became a certified hand therapist. She has been instrumental in the development of new outpatient clinics and hand therapy programs for St. Joseph's/Candler. She has been an active member of the Georgia Occupational Therapy Assn. since 1996 and currently serves as vice president of the organization.
