SCAD gallery hop announced

The Savannah College of Art and Design presents its monthly gallery hop, Jan. 7, 5-7 p.m., in five college facilities. The event is free and open to the public.

This month's gallery hop features:

  • Alexander Hall Gallery, 668 Indian St.
"Occupational Space," a thesis exhibition by Master of Fine Arts painting candidate Tarin Eicher.

  • Orleans Hall Gallery, 201 Barnard St.
"Office Work: An Installation by Summer Wheat," featuring drawings created with Post-it(R) notes and register tape signifying the artist's response to a busy office space. Wheat uses a variety of materials that she finds in her office supply, including pens, highlighters, Post-it(R) notes, register tape and Wite-Out(R). The work is presented in a setting that magnifies the artist's boredom and restlessness yet also highlights her obsessive urgency to document the oddity of her surroundings.

  • Pinnacle Gallery, 320 E. Liberty St.
"Andrew Saftel," featuring mixed-media and sculpture works by emerging Tennessee artist Andrew Saftel.

  • Red Gallery, 201 E. Broughton St.
"Redefined: Found Objects," a mixed-media exhibition exploring the boundaries of the word "found."
Artists in the exhibition include Adam Smith, Alan Schechner, Bailey Davidson, Brett Callero, E. Bruce Phillips, Carrie Brown, Conrad Rathman, David Barksdale, David M. Starzec, Dick Bjornseth, Jennifer Jenkins, Jim Towns, John M. Mitchell, Joshua Lynn, Keri Brooke Mcleod, Kipp C. Howe, Kristy Peet, Malcolm Lightner, Marcus Kenney, Meryl Truett, Michael Barefield, Pamela Heckel, Roberto Lange, Robin Miller, Roget Bowersox and Tim Degner.

  • shopSCAD, 340 Bull St.
shopSCAD features original work and gifts by SCAD students, alumni, faculty and staff. All work is for sale. Photography alumna Meryl Truett is featured in January.
Shuttles will run between the galleries and refreshments will be served. Participants may begin at any of the stops.
