PARKINSON SUPPORT GROUP
SAVANNAH - The next meeting will be held Aug. 5, 5 p.m., at Candler Hospital, Marsh Auditorium. Dr. Matthew W. Rosenthal, DMD, will speak about "Oral Health Care and the Parkinson Patient."
The importance of proper dental care cannot be overstressed as it affects many aspects of a person's general health. Dr. Rosenthal is a native Savannahian and a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry.

Spanish Oaks Hospice is seeking volunteers
SAVANNAH - Volunteers in the facility help with administrative tasks such as receptionist/answering phones, copying, filing, assisting the office manager and making crafts. There is a great demand for patient care volunteers in the area of companionship, taking patients for a walk, feeding or even just reading to a patient. The 36-bed Spanish Oaks Hospice and Retreat is located at 8510 Whitfield Ave. A full orientation and training is available for all interested.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR LOWCOUNTRY COMMUNITY BLOOD CENTER
BEAUFORT - Lowcountry Community Blood Center, the sole provider of blood for Beaufort Memorial Hospital, is seeking part-time volunteers to assist with donor recruitment for community blood drives.
At least two volunteers are needed to work one day per week, for a few hours each day. Volunteers will work in their own office, located in the pathology department at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Training will be provided. Days and hours are flexible.

CASA needs volunteers to advocate for abused children
SAVANNAH - Every child should have a safe, loving, and permanent home, but many do not. Each year hundreds of children in Chatham County are abused and neglected by those who are supposed to care for them. The Savannah/Chatham County Court Appointed Special Advocates program is a catalyst for change, but they need your help. Looking for some good senior volunteers
SAVANNAH - The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program is in need of volunteers to share their time and talents giving back to the communities. Through RSVP, seniors 55 and older serve in various community organizations, including hospitals, churches, youth recreational centers and educational facilities. Volunteers can serve as few hours or as much as 40 hours per week. RSVP involves seniors in service that matches their personal interests and make use of their skills and lifelong experience. The only qualifications needed are to be at least 55 or older and to have the desire to share with the communities your personal talents. HILTON HEAD - The Summertime festival at Shelter Cove Harbour, Hilton Head Island, will be held every Tuesday evening through Aug. 24. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with sales by arts and crafts vendors. Shannon Tanner, family entertainer, will perform at 7 and 8:30 p.m. Fireworks displays begin at 9 p.m.
The free concert series, "Summer Jams" featuring music by Music Madness is held every Tuesday throughout the summer from 6:30 -10 p.m. at the Shelter Cove Community Park.

BLUFFTON - The Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Support Group 2, affiliated with the Alzheimer's Association Palmetto Chapter, has added an Early Onset/Recent Diagnosis Support Group that also includes those recently symptomatic with Alzheimer's disease, related disorders, stroke and Parkinson's disease. Emotions Anonymous meetings
HILTON HEAD - The Emotions Anonymous chapter on Hilton Head Island meets at 7:30 a.m. for an hour every Thursday at St. Luke's Parish Hall, Pope Avenue. People can join the program at any time. There are no dues.
Emotions Anonymous offers a 12-step program to help people cope with stress. Members attend for various reasons, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems and other emotional difficulties.

An empowerment series will offer information on a variety of topics from long-term care and asset preservation to holistic health and gardening every Thursday. There will also be information about free services for new residents on how to register vehicles and acquire a South Carolina driver's license as well as Internet access, photocopying, faxing and notary assistance. AARP Driver Safety Program Course
BLUFFTON - AARP's Driver Safety Program will be offered at the Bluffton Branch of the Beaufort County Library, 120 Palmetto Way in Bluffton on August 11 and 13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day. AARP membership is not required. There is a $10 course fee. Please bring your driver's license and a pen or pencil. The class is limited to 30 attendees. SAVANNAH - AARP 55 Alive is a two-day, four hours each day class that will refresh your driving skills, review the rules of the road and identify those areas where changes take place as you age The cost is $10 per person.
